Who would believe this little girl is turning eight this year?? For everyone's information, and if anyone would like to come, Elaina's baptism is most likely going to take place on Saturday the 7th of June. We just attended the stake baptism preview and she is so excited. And I can't believe #1- my baby is old enough to be baptized, and #2- I'm old enough to have a baby get baptized!

I know exactly what you mean--Russ & I cannot believe that we are old enough for our youngest kids to be in senior primary! The thought of them getting baptized is more than we can wrap our brains around!
Hey, remind me about the date when it is closer and I will see what we can do to be there. I don't think we will be leaving town until the first of July.

So we went to a baptism right after church yesterday afternoon. This was our 2nd of the year. And there are 16 kids in the CTR 8 class this year. True, 3 of them are mine, and they will be baptized on the same day. But that's still a heck of a lot of baptisms, and I'm not sure we're going to make it through that many talks on the Holy Ghost! We were so tired I'm surprised no one fell asleep....
I'm not sure how many baptisms our ward has (16 is a LOT!) but our stake has 100 this year! Ditto on the talks...
Our ward has been so small in the past that you just do your own baptism thing. Not like in Utah where everyone gets baptized in the stake on one Saturday morning a month. So it's cool, because it's much more personal. But I'm not sure how many baptisms I can lead the music for before my brain turns to mush! ;)
Here's a weird one for you. Our bishop insists that the font doors not be opened until father & child are down the steps and into the water. This Sunday the mother opened them and he closed them again. How strange is that???
Is it just in case her dress comes up in the water or something? That is odd.
I agree. I asked a former (but recent) counselor and he said he had no idea on earth why the bishop would have done that.
It's the kind of thing that makes me want to specify that when my kids get baptized, I want it different. First because if you don't open the doors till their down in the water, the whole thing is even shorter. And second, because I'm just so obstinate! ;)
The funny thing was, the probably *should* have closed the doors before the little girl walked back up the stairs. Cause I could have sworn that someone forgot the extra pair of underwear... Poor little girl!!!
