countertops?





This is nowhere near as exciting as Grant's news.

But I need your help.

Take a look at these laminate samples and tell me what you like best with the cabinet!

Also tell me why!

So, I definately like one of the last two the best. The lighter one will give you a more neutral color palatte. The second will make your counter tops stand out. Seeing as how your floor and carpet are both light/neutral you may want something that will give a little impact--meaning the darker one. It is a hard choice though.

For what it's worth: I choose the lighter of the two bottom samples. The dark spots will give it enough contrast to make it interesting, but I've found that dark colors tend to absorb the light, even with big windows and lots of natural light. Also, the lighter tone will hide mars and scratches better. But what do I know?!

My vote would go for the darker one as well, for aesthetic reasons. But Ramona is right- all of our dark countertops, floors and cabinets really suck the light out of our kitchen. Ours always feels really dark. But you have bigger windows and more light than we do.

Em votes a checkerboard pattern of both. or plaid. is that possible? yes, in our redisign, all our builders are going to have to be crack smokers to get along with us.

Andra, Nancy votes for the lighter of the two on the bottom as well. :) Also, I don't know if you would have this problem with the darker one, but Katie's counters are navy formica and they show water spots a ton....
