I have long loved Orson Scott Card's latter books from the Ender's Game line. Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind. you don't really have to read Enders Game to get them... but thats an awesome book too. those are my favorites. Em and I have also enjoyed the Stephanie Meyers books, (although they're a bit sappy, in a good way.) hope those help.
I just read The Host, by Stephanie Meyer, and I thought it was really good. If you haven't read it, Ella Enchanted was also really good, my mom liked it too!
Really Sam? I thought that Speaker for the dead was so strange that I didn't even try Xenocide. But all of us (Me, CL, JD) loved the alternate sequels to Ender's game--Ender's Shadow, Shadow Puppets, and Shadow of the Hegemon.
Laila, if you want to be like all of the other young moms in my ward you need to read Twilight & the sequels. People are insane about them!
I just finished reading "Left to Tell" about the Rawandan genocide. So interesting--very sad, but pretty easy to read.
I have followed the shadow books also, ender's shadow was a bit graphic(dark and violent) at the beginning. as for the ender's series after ender's game havent read it yet. Now as for recomendations. "look homeward angel" by thomas wolf. Beautifully written, probably the best piece of fiction ever to come out of the south. I loved it. Has however been a while since I read it. IE 8-12 years.
in the latter Card books, the author really gives time to some deep contemplation.. Its very interesting reading (or listening, i have his library in MP3 format) because it delves so interestingly into the human condition from an "outside" perspective. a bit strange, yes. But so rewarding to me...
Cindy, Have your boys read The Lighting Thief? There are several books in the series "Percy Jackson & The Olympians". Jake has read the first two and is ready for some more!
Laila, I really liked reading Ella Enchanted. I am not a "reader" like Val and most of you guys. And the book "Fairest" goes along with that book.
I say all Mary Higgins Clark. . .all the time!!! She hasn't written a bad one yet! If you want sweet and wholesome go for Janette Okes. I love to reread all of Lucy Maud Montgomery's books. (anne of green gables - she has so many more.)
OH OH OH!!! go for TWILIGHT and its sequels with the super neat and terribly romantic vampires. Trust me on this, it was written by a LDS lady. After this, your husband we seen terribly, wastefully ALIIIIVVVVVVEEE!!!!

All these recommendations sound great. That should keep me busy for...say...the rest of my life :) Kids keep me very busy!
Hey Sam, you have it all in MP3 format? I want to steal some of that from you I think...
