Partly Naked on Wood Dale

For those of you who have heard that 301 Wood Dale has undergone a transformation, and wondered what it was like, here be some pictures. Jeannie and I were expecting clear cut, but found it to be less drastic. Still, the transition is quite shocking. I haven't talked to anyone yet who would have cut any of them down. Bonus pictures of the Holy Church of the Aluminum Siding and The Pond are included.

P.S. Resized pictures are the friends of the internet, and indeed, all mankind!
P.P.S. Click on the pictures to see them in all of their resized glory!
P.P.P.S. Sorry for bumping you Marg!

Holy Cow! A completely different look with all that lawn. I wonder how much it cost to remove that many trees.

Where did you hear the rumor?

So what I want to know is were you worried that someone was going to come out and catch you taking pictures of their house?

I know the grass is nice, but man--I'd miss the trees!

Cindy,

We took the pictures from the car with a smaller camera. Thank heavens there weren't any adults with firearms present!

Russ,

Ramona asked if we had seen it yet when she and dad passed through on their way to Hartsville. We drove by on our way down. I wonder if the new owners may have profited by selling the wood. Some money to be made in timber, and them was a bunch of trees!

We loved seeing you in Hartsville along with the rest of the family that were there. We missed seeing those of you who caught the Utah side.

Oh my! I never even heard about the trees being cut down, or even imagined it possible! Maybe they need room for a putting green?? Unfortunately they have just taken some very good swing trees away! Oh well, I guess life goes on.

What they will never know they are missing, as Jeff, Sam and I can attesT is the large group of Rhododendrons that were along the road. We used to call them the "monkey trees" and acted like pretty good monkeys in them! We each had our special seat. There were even branches you could jump on like a trampoline. And playing a game of tag in there was pretty fun too. Not to mention all the other exploring throughout the woods there.

Those people saw all the metal cables and random wooden rickedy platforms hanging from the knarly trees, not to mention the BLOOD i left on various stumps and they were AFRAID!!!! They wondered what had happened there!!!! Who had been forced to LIVE chained in the woods like an ANIMAL!!!! We had a lot of pets, did they find bones out there? This was not a clearcutting, it was an excorcism!!!! (with no good reason, cause we know that the last people who lived there were totally pure hearted in every way :)

I would just like to take this oportunity to say that dad was always talking about cleaning the poison ivy out of the woods with "species specific" (ie kills only poison ivy) herbicide. I cannot tell you all how long I believed in "species specific" herbicides. And that now I know that they do not exist! DAD!!!

I think it looks really nice. There are still plenty of trees to swing on and I am sure we would have loved to have a lawn that big to play on.

It actually looks like the pond could use some of that treatment.
