What is it?

ANSWER: Motorcycle muffler end (last few inches, the rest remained on the bike).

While driving home from Frankfort yesterday I drove over a silver object which was rolling across the road. Once the item went under my van it created quite a racket. I looked at the rear view mirror to see it's departure, however, it didn't appear. When I got home I looked under the van for damage. I did not find any, however, this little jewel was lodged near the rear axle. Do you know what it is? (I do, just thought you might find it interesting)

The item measures about 5 inches across.

That's a tough one. My guess is a partly smashed female-female pipe connection.

Not sure, but I think the markings on it refer to the degree of sterling silver in it. (Such markings are on silver rings, etc., in Mexico.)

It's difficult to determine the size since there's nothing in the picture to compare it to. (Is it as big as a bread box?)

My guess is either a chrome covering for a wheel, lug nut, etc., or maybe the decorative collar for a wine bottle (not that I would know about such things!)

That is quite obvious. It is a piece off of a 3 phase plasma cannon array. This part is the dildo inverter, that changes positive photon flux into a plasma wack jet, which is then combined in to gamma recouple valve with ice and then fire. 35 hypoton nominal with 300 rounds per minute capacity, out to 50 parsecs.

Is it a part off of a bicycle under that handle bars, between them and the bike itself?

Nope, too big. I am dying to know.

My guess is that someone bought a porta-potty at a yard sale and then found that little trinket in it...and just tossed it out in the road. ;)

ANSWER: End of a motorcycle muffler. It is interesting that spot welds on the the outer pipe failed and the inner pipe sheared almost as if it had been cut. Inner and outer pipes are quite thick. Makes a terrible racket when bouncing under one's vehicle!

Sam, I guarantee that that is a robot weld. I used to draw cartoons at Toyota of robots doing all the welding jobs. By the time I left the welding jobs were all being done by robots.

We could get one of those 20 questions things and see if it can find out. I think it looks really cool though. I think Andra is closest to being right.
