$1 Cure for Road Rash
So on Tuesday I decided to take the 426 up to the foothills for a little ride but didn't get 200 yards before I was sliding across the pavement. I remember thinking to myself whether to hit the gas or take a sharp right back towards the house. Turns out doing both simultaneously is not a good idea.
I guess it's a good thing I was wearing a helmet, gloves and full cammies because I'm pretty sure I hit my head. Unfortunately the cammies rolled up on my arms and were pretty much ripped off of my legs, offering me very little protection from the pavement.
So now that I've got a fresh case of road rash, I decided I'd better figure out how to best treat it. Later on the web, I found this street cyclist/Doctor who swore by DuoDerm bandages so I decided to give them a shot. Duoderm is basically a clear adhesive bandage that you apply directly to your wound. Once applied, it reacts with your normal white blood cell secretions and creates a sealed moist healing environment. In this environment you can skip the normal scabbing stages and get right to epithelialisation (regrowing skin).
Now I will show you the picturs so you can be the judge:
Day 6 (nice...)This stuff is awesome for so many reasons. Once it's on, the wound is pretty much painless. Too bad removing the pavement from my arm wasn't. It's waterproof so you can bathe as often as you like. It's somewhat transparent so you can (kind of) watch the wound healing. If you have any questions about this fun experince or the miracle of Duoderm, feel free to give me a call.

One of a Kind Fortunes
I'm sure you remember these — fortune tellers. I don't remember what I wrote on mine, but I sure do remember the feeling of moving the fortune teller back and forth, back and forth.
There are fortune tellers all over the house these days. Some are fancy, some are more utilitarian. The one thing they have in common is the creative bent of all of the fortunes. I'm glad these kids can't really predict my future!
You will tirn in to a pootl in one yere.

WORK, work, WORK
Hey everyone. I just wanted to show some pics of some of our accomplishments. Have fun. Brent says he is planning on making a real decision about jobs tomorrow. Pray for us.
Finally, the red (now brown and splotchy) carpet is gone. In these next few pictures also focus on the radiator cover/bookshelves in the background.

What is wrong here?
So this picture comes from an article on cNet. The article covers an exhibit containing some of the items sent to Frank Warren of PostSecret. He posts some of the secrets on a blog. Anything wrong with the picture? (Read the caption) Link to Article

Here Be Dragons
OK, maybe not dragons, but there were definitely whales in the waters in Maui. Cindy and I just got back from 10 wonderful days sin niƱos. And just to show that we actually were there and the whale picture didn't come from the internet this is us after a fabulous breakfast (because that was all we could afford there, don't even look at the dinner menu without pirate booty) at a country club golf course.
We drove what we decided was the state car for Hawaii, which was a sweet ride (I need a mid-life crisis now).
We went to the top of Haleakala (the volcano for those that don't speak Hawaiian) and saw a nice sunset and stole a kiss.
And we did a LOT of snorkeling at "The Dumps" (yes it really is called that). It was windy while we were there, so lots of places we had planned on snorkeling were too choppy. This place didn't get choppy until the afternoon each day, so we went there every day that we snorkeled. We were chatting with someone that lives there most of the winter and they said this was the best place on Maui to snorkel. We swam with the turtles and saw TONS of tropical fish, the occasional eel, and the great Humuhumunukanukaapua'a. But this is the only snorkeling picture we had (we forgot to take pictures while we were snorkeling).
Lastly, we saw some awesome displays of nature in the huge crashing waves. For those of you that haven't experienced this, heavenly fireworks are made by huge waves crashing into huge rocks. They make quite a spectacular show to watch.
Sorry you all missed it, it was fabulous. Let us know when the Watson reunion in Maui is scheduled so we can get our snorkel gear ready!

computer Help
OK all you wise, knowledgable computer geeks. What is the best mobile broadband access plan available? We are looking at the Verizon PC card and access plans, but they are hugely expensive and require a 2-year commitment for the least expensive plan. Are any of you using one and can you give us some info about it?
Love you
DAD and Ramona
