Things you NEVER expect to see when you look out the window...

We are thinking of selling Rachel to the circus...

scary! But normal, unfortunately normal. Something like us pushing the trampoline up to the garage so that we could climb up the ladder in the back and then jump off the roof onto the tramp. Or like Andra and I "laying out" to get a tan on the roof. Hmm...need it go on?

don't forget the ewok villiage, laila. that was a project that needed some SERIOUS structural evaluation. what else? the thing that kinda shocked me is: we took a picture of this. that is an experienced mother. way to be the consumate fotografer. p.s. the web page says i misspelled 5 words... can you find them?

somestratt said...

consumate? Hmm...don't know if you mean that? Or like the bombs val and grant used to make...or letting any of us get our drivers lisences...

Yeah, there happen to be two differnt meanings of that word. With the accents on both the first and last syllables it means. . . . .we'll leave it at that. With a heavy accent only on the first syllable, it means something like. . .the end all and be all of something. The best of the best.

Well dosent the First mean about that two.... Love ya.

I love it that Cindy ignored her first instinct (Scream at the top of your lungs to get down and that you will kill yourself doing that and the LAST thing we need is ANOTHER doctor bill) and reached for the camera instead!

Jeannie said...

Wow! I would have to remember that if I screamed that they would probably fall for sure!
Good job taking the picture!

wow, cindy, I just looked at the pic again. Oh my gosh! How long did it take you to realized what you were seeing? And then did you scream? The photo honestly lookes photoshoped. Totally unreal.

I took a closer look at the picture and it really looks like she is on the verge of a Killer dismount. Is it possible that she is a chinese gymnist reincarnate?

Cindy said...

true confession--I did make her get down, but without screaming at her. And then I calmly asked her to carefully get back up so I could take a picture...because it was certainly a memory I wanted to preserve!

I realized that it wasn't quite as scary as it at first looked--she was standing in a place where she could put her feet on the supports of the swinging bench (whatever it's called) underneath her. So I got my picture, and told them all that no one is EVER to get on top again!

Sam & Laila--what's an ewok villiage??

Cindy, you know, the ewoks from star wars. They had this amazingly elaborate tree house system that they lived in. Well. If you will also remember dad built that great 6 ft. tall tower for us to launch ourselves off of with the cable swing. Ben and Grant, in their Star Wars days, decided to build a treehouse about 15-20 ft. away in a clump of trees, and then connect the tower and the tree house together, and then do it again, and again, therefore, building our own ewok village. Unfortunately, the bridge (a good 8 ft. off the ground) collapsed while we were working on it = my broken collar bone.

Cindy said...

I'd never heard the story of your broken collar bone--I thought you'd just fallen off of the swing tower. Which was plenty, believe me!!!

Seriously weak to climb up the ladder in the back of the house to jump off the house onto the trampoline. I remember flipping off the house onto the trampoline, then jumping back onto the roof like a cat from the trampoline, to speed up the process. I think I stopped flipping off the roof when my back hit the driveway through the trampoline...

are you yanking my chain Val, or did you really do that? You boys are such a testimony to me that sometimes the Lord keeps people on the earth until their work here is done!!!

if i remember correctly, there was a sheet involved in this Val-o-Rama. wasn't it going to slow the decent some? held between some monkey toes.
amazing that some of us are alive.
when the blog started, i asked if BeingWatson meant that we all hurt ourselves like i do... drill bit through the hand, remember? now i reiterate: Being Watson? Pain?

somestratt said...

or being watson? functional brains?

Jeremy said...

Seriously for an intelligent family we have some of the most brainless stories. Myself included.

Val, just Val said...

I think we stopped using the sheet when we found it wasn't needed. Not pulling anyone's chain here. It was a front flip by the way. Never did try a back or gainer. Ben and Grant, is this how you remember it?

I may be speaking for myself only but here's how I see it.

All Watson's are born with plenty of brains and even some common sense. The real problem is the huge amount of time it takes for those brains to become useful for anything, especially things like understanding the meaning and reality of mortality.

Wow, I just now saw Rachel on top of the swing set. This whole time I have been franticly searching the picture for poison oak & ivy leaves.

Does anyone else have this crazy phobia of North Carolina woods?

Jeremy said...

I had probably the worst reaction to poison Ivy in the family. It took over a whole leg several times. With gruesome cures and near instant spreading, I may hold the medal in the watsons. Ah yes and I get it just by being in the same space as it.

It appears that Jake has the Poison Ivy gene. I don't think he has returned from a camp-out yet without a fresh batch. He has had the misfortune of getting it on his nether regions on several occasions. We often wonder if he throws it on the fire and inhales the fumes he gets it so bad.

Cindy said...

I think we have dodged the poison ivy gene. I don't even know what poison ivy looks like. I'm sure it's just because I didn't grow up in NC like the rest of you & roam the wilds & get exposed. If you look in the picture at the tree just to the right of where RACHEL IS STANDING ON TOP OF THE SWING!!!, Jeff, you can see a brown vine winding around the big tree. I didn't know that was poison ivy till a friend told me last year. Russ cut a chunk out of it and it died--I worried that as the leaves fell they would get someone, but we seem to have survived that too...

Jeff, so true about the time it takes a brain to mature, especially unsupervised brains! But about the poison ivy, I thought that Jeff had it internally once. Am I wrong. I do dread the stuff. It didn't bother me as a kid. I could roll in it. Not the same now. Maybe you are the same jeff. Maybe you could roll in it now and not have a problem. I vote you try it :)
