Moving Day

Thought you'd like to see what we did today! 2 HUGE trucks all loaded and on the road. We couldn't fit everything in and had to borrow some space in a Ward member's basement. We'll pick it up when we return in May.

Everyone showed up for grits and eggs, then pitched in to help load the trucks. Within just a couple of hours they had everything finished. We were going to wait until Monday morning to head out, but when we finished up we decided to hit the road.

We were supposed to talk in Church on Sunday, but we called the Bishop and told him he'd need to find someone else to speak. While the guys were loading the truck, I looked up just in time to see our Grandfather clock catapulting off the handtruck and tumbling down the hill! I'm so glad I convinced your Dad to take the weights out of it. I'm afraid to unwrap it. Oh well. It's just stuff, right?!

I am really good at not thinking about things that bother me. Until I see the trucks leaving. So sad! I guess I just won't look at those pictures any more. Instead I will just think of Dad and Ramona living here instead, maybe that will ease the pain....

It was really, really sad. Not during the moving and the cleaning, because that was pretty busy. But after, to know I was leaving for the last time--that was hard. It made me miss mom a lot, which doesn't happen a lot now.

Ramona--I *just* realized that we forgot the Christmas lights!

Quote is from Sgt Marquese (mar-kay-z) one of Grant's fellow marine sahgents, modified for present use. If you take to making pithy one-liners, mayhaps one day ye shall have the distinct honor of being quoted by me.

Oh--everyone needs to be sure to appreciate dad's parking job. How he managed to back not one but TWO 26 foot moving vans into the driveway, perfectly parallel, and not hit the tree on the one side or the light post on the other side....I'll never know!

I was actually thinking when I first saw the pictures that I couldn't believe that they got both of those trucks in the driveway. I know the bus driver used to have one heck of a time turning around there. Just shows off dad's skills! Great job dad. I bet everyone involved appreciated not having to take everything all the way out to the road.

does no one here remember Dads Driving lessons in West's parking lot? Odd Lessons crushing cans with a particular wheel while parallel parking and figure 8s around light poles at 15mph. These memories leave me with no suprise at all with the parking skills of our father.

Hope the drive has gone well.
